Solar panel cleaning FAQs
Costs, equipment selection and cleaning methods for your next project.
How much does it cost to clean solar panels?
There is no single price for every site. The cost of each cleaning visit depends on the panel area, dirt level, access, local labor rates, water supply and travel. For your own cleaning team, also include equipment, transport, power, replacement brushes and maintenance.
CHUANMAI supplies cleaning equipment. For an equipment quotation, send your country, cleaning area, panel layout and preferred brush or robot. The quotation will specify the selected configuration, accessories and shipping terms.
Is solar panel cleaning worthwhile?
Cleaning can be worthwhile when the value of energy lost to dirt exceeds the cost of cleaning. The result depends on local dust, rainfall, panel tilt, electricity value and how quickly dirt returns.
Use site inspections and performance records to assess the need. Compare output under similar weather conditions, and check for other causes of reduced generation. A cleaning schedule should reflect your site; there is no guaranteed production increase or universal cleaning interval.
Should I use a telescopic brush or a cleaning robot?
A telescopic brush may suit smaller or separated areas, panel edges and sites where an operator can reach the panels from a suitable working position. Confirm the required reach, brush format and water supply.
A remote-controlled robot may suit larger, continuous panel areas with a compatible layout. Check slope, gaps, edges, access and handling between rows. CHUANMAI's robot uses handheld remote control and requires an operator. Send site photos and measurements so we can compare the options.
When is it worth buying a solar cleaning robot?
Consider a robot when you have repeat cleaning work, a compatible panel layout and enough annual use to justify the investment. Compare its total operating cost with your current cleaning method, including setup, transfers between rows, operator time, transport, water, maintenance and spare parts.
Base the decision on your own workload and a representative equipment demonstration. Larger area alone does not guarantee a shorter payback period; suitability and actual time saved matter too.
Do I need a cleaning agent for solar panels?
Loose dust may be removed with suitable water and a compatible soft brush. Some stubborn deposits may need a different treatment. Follow the module manufacturer's instructions for water quality, brush material, cleaning pressure and any permitted cleaning agent.
Use a cleaning agent only if the module manufacturer permits it, at the specified dilution and with the required rinsing. Confirm compatibility with the module coating and the cleaning equipment before use. Do not assume ordinary household chemicals are suitable.

Product support
Can I customize the cleaning brush?
Yes. For pole-operated cleaning brushes, we offer custom telescopic pole lengths and a choice of brushed or brushless motor. Tell us the required length in metres and your preferred motor type. The product sheets show brushless versions; the quotation specifies the configuration you order.
Should I choose a brush or a robot?
The choice depends on the panel layout, working access, cleaning area and operating conditions. Send your requirements so the options can be discussed.
What comes with the equipment?
The accessory package depends on the quotation. Confirm the power supply, hose, water system, charger, tool kit and spare brushes in the final supply list.
What is the warranty?
The product warranty is one year. Confirm the start date, service procedure and coverage in your order. Normal brush wear and damage caused by incorrect operation are excluded from the standard quality warranty.
Does the robot operate autonomously?
The robot shown uses handheld remote control. Confirm any requested automatic functions and safety features with our team; do not assume that they are included.
Can a robot work on every solar installation?
Compatibility depends on slope, surface conditions, panel gaps, layout and access. Check suitability before using the equipment.
Can I order replacement brushes?
Ask our team about compatible brush discs or rollers for your equipment. Provide the model and a photograph of the connection.
How do I request a quotation?
Tell us your country, product interest, customer type and project requirements. Confirm the equipment specification, quantity and shipping details before ordering.
